The C-NPU database is downloadable in XML and Microsoft® Excel format. The XML file can be transformed into e.g. HTML by applying the transformations listed below using an XML tool, e.g. the MSXSL tool from Microsoft®. The HTML files can then be loaded into e.g. Microsoft® Excel or Microsoft® Word. To deal with different character encodings in different parts of the world, all information in the database is HTML encoded. Thus, to successfully import the database, the files should run through a HTML parser, as e.g. is done when importing HTML into Word or Excel.
